I swear every time I try to get our financial house in order it all falls to pieces. This time is no exception.
It started on Tuesday with my tire blowing on my way to a important team meeting for DS2 at his specialty school 30 miles from town. A long tow and two new tires not in the budget...
Then I get a text message for DD1 in desperate in need of some financial help and then shortly after that she wanted the futon DS1 currently sleeps on as her living situation changed and she is now sleeping on the floor (DD1 is 18 and doesn't currently live with us, long story that deserves its own entire blog). The futon is hers but we had DS1 using it since he took over our daughter's old room until we could afford a new bed for him.
Already being crazy over budget, I would normally set up a make shift bed (DS1 would love it) until the beginning of March when I could afford something but unfortunately we have a foster care license renewal inspection next week and they will look down on one of our kids sleeping on the floor regardless if he is legally mine or not.
Then the foster parent's of DD2's birth brother invited her and two other kids over all Saturday for a joint birthday party for birth brother and his foster brother. They actually invited to take all 5 of the little ones off our hands but due to high special needs we decided to keep DS2 and DS3 home. While I GREATLY appreciate 10 hours with 3 kids free, it is two birthday gifts not in the budget.
And finally the cost associated with the foster care inspection. Nothing ridiculous, everything we need to get done is fairly cheap by itself but it all adds up. I should have budgets for this better but I didn't.
The worst part of all of this is that it is only February 6th and we are already $400.00 over budget!!
On a positive note Roommate bought me Cold Stone ice cream so wallowing in self-pity while stuffing my face was banana caramel crunch was ABSOLUTELY FREE!!
